Iran is to play Uruguay on Sunday in its opener of the 2009 Brazil Futsal Grand Prix which will be held from June 28 to July 5.

Iran was drawn in Group B along with Costa Rica, Romania and Uruguay. The fourth-place finisher in the 2008 World Cup will face Romania and Costa Rica on June 29 and 30 respectively.
 
A total of sixteen teams are divided into four groups. The Brazil Futsal Grand Prix is an international competition of the same kind as the FIFA Futsal World Championship but with invited nations and held annually in Brazil. It was first held in 2005.
