The second season of Qatar Womens Sport Open Indoor Football Tournament, sponsored by Commercialbank, kicks off at the Aspire Zone tomorrow.
The 14-team tournament for women will see Qatars top clubs participating.
The tournament will be played over four weeks with the final scheduled for March 26.
The tournament is being organised by Qatar Womens Sport Committee (QWSC).
QWSCs President Ahlam Salem Al Manaa and Commercialbanks Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Abdulla S Al Raisi, signed the sponsorship agreement for the tournament yesterday.
We are very thankful to Commercialbank for their support to womens sports.
This is a good step from Commercialbank to sponsor our event, Al Manaa said.
Commercialbanks Al Raisi said: We are very happy to sponsor this event.
We have to encourage women sports in this country.
There is a lot of potential.
Qatar Sports Club, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan (two teams), Al Gharafa, Al Arabi, Al Ahli, Police, Qatar Education Complex, American Academy, Barcelona Club, O2 and Al Rahib will vie for top honours over four weeks.
The matches will be played from Thursday to Saturday every week.
Earlier, QWFC, in cooperation with Qatar Football Association, conducted the second futsal referees course for its candidates at women club in Aspire Dome.
The threeday course featured the participation of 35 trainees, including referees, administrator and coaches.
According to QWSC officials, the course comes in the light of the committees arrangements to host the Qatar Womens Sport Open Indoor Football Tournament.
